I am on the fenceon changing my order from a p-171x fx to a p-171xl fx. The difference between the p-171x fx and the p-171xl fx are, the xl version has a HD DVD drive, no biggy, two 200gb 7200rpm hard drives (300.00ish at newegg) and the x7900 cpu (not sure how much this would be to upgrade). The price difference is about $872.00 with my quote. Is it worth it?

Nope, you'll be happy with the p171x. HD-DVD ius officially discontinued so you won't see any new movies come out on HD-DVD, though the 360+ movies that did come out you'll be able to enjoy in full 1080p glory. The X7900 won't show too much of an improvement in games, and you could always add more HD space when you need it.

Thank you for your response, I feel the same way, the x7900 cpu is whats making me wonder, I play Everquest 2, and it is a cpu intensive game. I guess I can always upgrade the cpu when the prices drop. Would buying two 200gb 7200rpm 16mb Hard Drives and running them in rain 0 help with game performance? Also I have been reading the threads regarding Ram, would there be any gain switching the current ram out to 4gb? And is there a big difference using G.SKILL 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) it has a 4-4-4-12 timing?

The hard drives will do nothing for your gaming performance, only loading times. 4gb of ram depends on what your uses are and how much ram you currently use. And that specific ram will not do you anything over any other brand.
