Is there a simple way to get the palmrest off? Maybe a full disassembly guide?

I have a 8pin Bluetooth chip coming in and I want to put it in.

What is the simplest way to access that area. I don't want to take out every single screw to learn (unless that's how :D).

I think it would be easier to help you if you told us what laptop you have...

If you are installing a miniPCI bluetooth card then there are only five screws you need to undo. The screws will remain in the lid so you shouldn't lose them.

This is what the inside of the compartment looks like: http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25841&stc=1&d=1224728563

And the PCI cards go here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25842&stc=1&d=1224728563 You can see that one of the miniPCI slots is occupied by the Intel 5100 Wireless 80211a/b/g/n card

I actually found, bought, and am importing the correct internal bluetooth adapter right now.

That's why I need to get under the palmrest. I really need to be more specific.

    bg,
Seems you've been down this path recently... http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=4046275

Were you successful in finding a source for the bluetooth widget and cable? If so, where did you get them and what was the cost? And since you are going in that direction, I guess you can ignore my previous post.

I cannot make links yet, so go to eBay and search for the item number 270289447988.

From that post you linked, and a couple of others I found... I found it. Took me 2 hours of searching to find one that ALSO included the cable and was not pre-soldered for the HP it's normally made for.

It's 15 posts, but I am getting close...

    tinyurl(DOT)com/66ed6w

There is the link to the guy who has the bluetooth adapters. He seems to have 9 left.

Also, E-Wrecked, you of anyone should know what screws I need to take out to do it the easiest.

no idea.. but there was a post on this thread showing how-to. You gotta drop the base screws(just put a piece of tape over each hole as you loosen the screw) then they wont get lost. Pop off the media cover(i believe), then the keyboard, then the palm rest. I like the unscrew & tape method. Then it makes it easier if ya have any leftovers. The palm rest seems like it doesnt want to release, but it will ;)

There's a 6*** FX series disassembly on overclockers forum.. it gave me the basics. But man, its been a while. And most folks are scared of removing the multimedia cover..but that was a breeze.

EDIT: Here's johnksss giving you the 411 http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=298699&page=2#16

and read thru the thread if you need pics.

One last post before I go to bed :).

Anyway, probably yes... But in all honesty, I don't think it's a huge deal. 2.0 will be fine for quite awhile especially since I will be mainly using this for tethering and headsets.
