    Hey all

I tried searching for this on the forums but wasn't exactly sure what search terms to use and came out empty handed.

Basically, whenever you turn on or off either the caps lock, num lock or scroll lock, a little pop up on the lower right corner comes up saying whether either of those are on or off.

I need to get rid of that pop up as I need some of those keys on some games and as push to talk key on ts and ventrilo, and on some games the pop up introduces graphic corruption.

Can somebody please tell me how to turn it off?

    Thanks in advace!

i have no idea how, but mine no longer shows up, i don't even remember doing anything.

EDIT: after reinstalling i never bothered looking for a driver so it's just using whatever windows gave it, maybe that's why i no longer get the notification.

Hmmm, I have never ever seen these popups you speak of... not when I first got the laptop and not after I recently reinstalled everything on a new 7200rpm harddrive. Did you get these when you first got the laptop?

Yep I've had those since I got the laptop

I did a fresh vista reinstall as well, although I did install every driver off the driver dvd I made. I guess I'm going to have to uninstall the keyboard driver or something.

According to Gateway, this is a feature. I guess we're too dumb to realize when we've toggled the Caps Lock and such.

Try going to Start: Run and typing: msconfig

Go to the Startup tab. Uncheck the LchDrvKey option. Restart your computer. That seems to have fixed it for my Gateway desktop. I don't use the advanced features of my keyboard so I don't know if that disabled any of the media buttons.

    Hope this helps.

I switched over to Windows 7 before giving that a shot, but if I go back to vista I'll be sure to try! Sounds like it could work

    Thanks a lot!
