    Just replaced my dead 7805u LCD with a new one and my not paying attention when I ordered it, the new LCD screen actually capable of running 1920x1200 (1080p) so I'm ecstatic :D !! Now I want an internal blue-ray drive to take advantage of this better screen lol. Is there such a thing or do I have to settle for an external one? I rather have an internal one to reduce the clutter around my laptop if possible

    Thanks :)

    All drivers have connectors in the same place so assuming an optical drive uses SATA connector any BR drive will work.

    How do I find out what kind of connector I have? I guess I could just get one at local electronic store (best buy) and try it out, if it's not the correct one I could always change it :p

    An application like Everest or AIDA should show if it's SATA or PATA. It's most likely SATA unless your laptop is ancient (sorry I don't recognize all model number instantly) but you have to be sure.

    P78 & P79 = Sata
    P68 = IDE or PATA

    Best bet is eBay, very easy upgrade. Hardest part is faceplate removal from old drive to new drive. The little plastic tabs can break easily. Probably already know but you will also need some type of BD software for playback. Some drives come with it and some do not.

    One thing to add real quick: Don't waste your money on an 8x playback or anything like that. SATA is limited to 150mb/s and blu-ray speeds are in 36mb increments. You can save some money and pick up a 4x playback burner or you could go for a 6x player. Between 4x and 6x playback, you're not going to notice any difference on your laptop unless you plug it into a TV.

    Remember too you need BR software. If you can pick up a drive bundled with software that may help a bit too..................

    BluRay capabilities are awesome.

    I put in a 6x Blue Ray driver into this laptop last year and I love it. Like everyone else said, make sure you have bluray software, which you may have to find separately.

    Otherwise, enjoy!
