did something really stupid when putting in my bluetooth (i'd rather not mention it)...anyways i need a 60.4I205 media bar to replace the one i have (mine will probably work but it's a cosmetic thing and it will drive me insane looking at it.

I am sorry about your mishap. Can you mention it so others may learn from your mistakes?

    LESSONS LEARNED

    1. never work on your laptop when you're tired.

    2. if things seem to be going well, stop for a while, it can only get worse.

    3. use the little screws FIRST if you're not sure they fit...even marking the screws it's possible to mess up.

    4. if the long screws have resistance, DON'T FORCE IT, you'll pay a price later.

    5. sad thing is not sure the bluetooth cable is working, had to trim the sides of the connector to get it to fit.

    6. Even though you've been repairing computers for 20 years (like me) don't get cocky, laptops are sensitive animals, they require a gently touch.

    7. If you have a large family, just realize it's going to take longer and you have to be more careful, interruptions along the way it took me 4 hours to take apart, somewhat destroy and reassemble the computer.

    8. The home stretch is the most dangerous, you just want the stupid thing done....bad thinking.

(bluetooth works, didn't have wireless turned on....for future reference the white end you plug into the laptop may not fit (or i bought one that sent the wrong cable connector). You may have to shave the sides for it to fit properly, i spent around an hour wondering if i was supposed to modify the plastic or not...maybe they're all like that.

picture on left is me immediately after i realized my mistake.

Honestly i guess it could have been worse, basically 2 raised areas on the media bar and 2 round marks on the bottom of the lcd...problem is my eye sees these things and mentally i go a little bit crazy (1 dead pixel does that to me also). Was actually considering selling the whole thing and starting over if i couldn't find a media bar to buy (apparently the world is out of stock).

dont worry, you're not the only person who has this issue. I wouldnt hesitate to sell my notebook and start all over again if there was something cosmetic that i couldnt fix/hard to replace.

dead pixels, small blemishes/fine scratches (caused by too much cleaning using regular tissues; really need to switch over to a lint-free cloth!) all drive me up the wall.

Your installation experience only strengthens my convinction to pursue the "Dell BT 370 mini pcie + intel 5100 half mini pcie" upgrade route as opposed to the OEM style upgrade.

if i can find a media bar, i'll just replace it, the two small marks on the bottom of the lcd panel are no big deal really. Problem is seems like one person sells the part and 10 different stores reference them when you go to buy one.
