that envy looks very nice especially for $949. I really don't mind loosing two inches of screen space...

really depends on what your looking for. that computer would be slightly slower at playing games but the i5 is faster than your P8400 in the 7805 so you might see the difference in general windows usage. I would say the build quality is better on the envy and that it is also probably a better notebook because its lighter and more portable. its better but I would watch out, I've heard a few things about the envy and heat problems, I would look into that first.

if you have heat issues with the 7805u you need to do some cleaning.

who ever told you the 7805u has heating issues obviously doesnt clean his notebook regularly because even with my x9100 i dont have heating issues. the only thing that gets too hot is the hdd but with even a plastic cheapo notebook cooler you can remedy that easily.

cant really say whats better for you since you dont specify what your gonna use it for. for every day computing (web and such) then the envy if the heat issues with the envy are no longer present. As for gaming or anything that uses the gpu heavily then the 7805u.

although the 7805u is a bigger 17 inch model it is a thin model as far as 17 inchers go

well, i listed my 7805u on craigslist and thought i could maybe sell it before the coupon (1800) where expired.. NOPE!!

I NEVER game on my laptop (i have a ps3, can't game with keyboard and mouse and can't get the ps3 controller to work with my laptop, tried several times), i basically use it to websurf download torrents, and do a little photoshopping (for fun)... The thing is it sit's on my coffee table 100% of the time, so it kinda just takes up too much space. Not to mention I've had a few issues with it (and the HORRIBLE gateway support) just really turned me off.

what you guys think about my craigslist post?

Adobe Master Collection CS4 (photoshop, dreamweaver, Illustrator, and every other Adobe program) = $2,500.00

If you really paid for it you wouldn't be including it :p

No matter what you say I wouldn't buy a P7805U for $1500, not even $1000.
I wouldn't even spend $800 on one of these.
I spent $640 on mine and that is about as much as I would ever spend on this configuration. Hint: check out other p7805us on craigslist and see what they sell for. You'll quickly see $700 becomes the magic number.

I think you've been trying with the same offer for months now. I remember seeing this around 3 or 6 months back. If you really want to sell it then think practical.

I actually did post it on there several months ago, and i got several offers, but at the time it was out getting a new system board, and i was basically just PO'd after dealing with Gateway CS. After i got it back i never had any more issues with it and still haven't.

I haven't really seen anything in this price that would compare spec wise until that deal which is why i haven't even worried with it. But yeah I know i need to lower the price, but damn Adobe CS4 Master collection 64 bit on this laptop is hard to just give away....

I guess if someone makes me a decent offer then i'll consider it, if not then oh well..

TBH I've had my P7805u for roughly 8 or 9 months and I have to say I'm fairly satisfied with it, I'm not sure why you'd consider any "upgrade" an upgrade when you have to buy a ton of aftermarket products to either cool it down, speed it up or both...

I put mine on my UW (University of Waterloo) online marketplace and the highest I was offered was $650.

Needless to say, until this thing becomes RARE (and "mint"), it's not going to be worth all that much.

    Sorry bud.

I would rather have the ENVY.
the 2nd Generation solved the heat issues.

Not to be nasty or anything, but that laptop will NEVER sell for $1,500.00!! You'd be lucky to get $800.00 for it, which is what I paid for mine several months ago.

Not to knock you man, but these laptops are not worth that much. You'll have to take a loss. They sell for about 700-900 max and that's with upgraded parts like CPU, hdd, screen, ram, ect. Sorry man.

Yeah, but offering it for $1500 to start is a little daunting.
I would say post it for $1000, and see how much people haggle you from there.

I would be happy if you got even $700 for yours... they're not that great considering an i7 laptop of the same caliber sells for ~$1000 with a better video card, RAM and resolution than the P7805u
