okay.. so when i turn on my laptop, it will go through the gateway screen... and then it will say that the realtek thing is trying to load, but it failed and that i need to check the cables... then after that it says that PFX ROM or something like that is being exited... then it will say operating system not found...

i downloaded Avast virus protection... and it found some trojans.. well it put them into the chest, so the other night i deleted them off... i don't know if it took some file with it...

    help???

assuming you have raid...your RAID array needs to be set to boot before your LAN adapter. and if you just set up the RAID array, you need to completely re-install windows in order for raid to work properly.

Check your bios boot options and make sure its booting to the HD it sounds like its trying to boot from network or the like.

well i went into the boot options, and i removed the " PCI LAN realtek boot agent" from the boot order... and when i did that it just repeated "operating system not found"... the boot order goes:

    1: USB FDC
    2: CDROM/DVD Optiarc DVD RW AD-7563A-(P
3: IDE HDD WDC (and then some random numbers and letters)
    4: USB KEY
    5: USB HDD
    7: nothing here
    8: nothing here also

    then on the excluded list:
    1: USB ZIP
    2: PCI SCSI
3: PCI LAN Realtek boot agent (which i moved here)

Sounds like your Windows installation is corrupt which could potentially be a bad hard drive. But before jumping the gun, you dont have a USB drive plugged in do you?

alright. so i hate the geek squad. took it there the 5th of this month and i didn't get it back until today. they finally got it onto the bench to work on it on the 12th. which if you ask me is really messed up. they had to replace the hard drive. the hard drive was completely shot... so the reinstalled the OS... but now i have NO word processor what so ever... and it's like $150 for Windows Office and it's $40 for Windows Works... is there anyway i can download it for free or something?
