I have been watching x9100's on ebay lately and I happened to see this one. I had just missed out on one that went for $306 plus 35 shipping(had auction sentry set to snipe but accidentally left laptop unplugged). Here it is:

    X9100

I have a feeling its a price mistake but I don't want to get ripped off.

Its an engineering sample so its gonna be a lot cheaper than normal price. However, the person selling it only has 6 positive feedback. Hopefully he knows how to ship processors since its coming in from China like most of the ES processors. But the price is good for X9100.

I bought a t-9300 from seller "MonkyBrain" paid 150 for a QSAMPLE, works perfect, he has a 182 positive feedback, is based out of the US and I highly recommend him from my experience... Right now he only has one CPU (X9300) on sale, but he is constantly adding listings for QS/ES chips...

And he is selling a T9800 the same price as the X9100 which is...

I don't think it fits p-6831.. I think you need one with 800mhz fsb.

Yea I'm having a little bit of buyer's remorse.

I bought the one in the first link, nobody has purchased the second one. I figured it would go fast. For some reason it doesn't show up when you do a search for x9100.

Hopefully I receive it and everything ok, if I do I saved $200 over the same processor extremeprocessors has for sale. They said "QHBQ better than QBDW"

Why do those guys censor the Engineering codes on those procs? I never did understand that.
BTW X9100 runs right with ANY desktop CPU out there gaming wise, also you can take it to 3.6ghz.

Well the Engineering Sample status of the chip, and it being an extreme ES on top of it(meaning ES are more prone to be pushed to the max) really helps lower the price. Say you got a T9300 as an ES, you do your review and boom that's it.
Well with a X9100 you're going to push that thing to extreme temps to see how hot it can run, so you can tell your readers. These CPUs can go to about 95C before the system crashes(actual chip is rated for 100-105C, but trust me your system wont let it go that high), so don't worry about heat damage, as long as the guy said it was TESTED in working order and has a DOA warranty of sorts.

When you get it, run CPU-Z and check the model/stepping, then run Orthos to make sure you did everything right on the install. That particular CPU should run about 65C on the coolest core at 3.0ghz. You're going to be looking at about 75C if you push it more than 3.4ghz, so i'd stay in that area until you get a laptop cooler, or if you have one... use it!

Also for a reference, I paid $210 USD for my X7800 ( not an ES ). I paid extra for the NON ES status, I didn't want an ES C2Extreme. I just want a "retail" one. ES were given to whomever ( review sites, testers, etc. ) for free, whereas the retail ones were paid about $1000 bucks for. So that makes me feel better about paying for it. BUT on the flip side, the price you're paying for that X9100 isn't much more than I paid for my X7800, I'd rather have the ES X9100 any day. I don't mean to scare anyone who has an ES, I am just saying if I am going to pay top dollar for a CPU, it had better be a retail CPU. Now if there is an ES for $100 and a retail for $200, I will buy the ES anyday. In your situation, you're literally paying half the price! So I envy you in that aspect.

or did anyone else buy from him got their cpu yet?

yeah, i know for sure extreme processor is legit seller as i bought 2 cpu from him and everything worked perfect. i am just hesitating as this guy's cpu price is way lower than others and his pictures and descriptions are copycat of extreme processor guy's. and look at his feedback. i have seen this guy posting so many cpu for past 2 weeks and many ppls bought it but none left any feedbacks yet except for that early transaction he finished back in january. i just did buy it now on x9100 on him and going to pay for it tomorrow. if he sends me wrong chip or broken one, i am going to charge it back for sure. just wanted to hear some feedbacks from ppls who bought it b4 me.

It looks legit so far, I'll know about the pins hopefully within a week.

I would have gone with the t9800, but I couldn't pass up this deal. Also I'm thinking about selling the laptop in a month or so, it's a little bit more laptop then I need. I think it'd sell on ebay better with the x9100 as its the best you can get. I also installed a blu-ray, an extra 320gb scorpio black drive and I have a bluetooth module on the way.

Well, if you're selling it you probably won't need to worry about the longevity of the CPU. But people won't want the laptop since the warranty is voided and cause the price is now higher, I've seen laptops on Ebay upgraded to the max with dual high GB SSD drives and no one buying it cause of the price probably but the price was perferctly good/normal for upgraded to the max.

Hopefully I could get my money back, I may keep it though.

What is funny I remember reading some place when researching about the ES CPU's, that they are given to the people testing and using them for FREE. So the people that receive these for free and then sell them are making excellent profit !!! God Bless :)

For me its not skepticism, but more "will these chips work with". ES work, its just what about the problems reported with the x9100 and the 7811 that was supposedly past onto the 7805? Do those problems only exist if the chip is OCed, do I need to under volt the chip? Is it worth it to get an x9100 with a known issue over a t9800/p9600 which I haven't heard anything about the tzs0 issue.

Also what are the known problems with the 7811 and the x9100. Also, I thought the highest the 78** could overclock to was 3.0 ghz.

now that i think about it, i am a bit worried too.
i have p-7805u and i know t9600 or t9800 work for sure without undervolting despite they are 35 watts chips. but x9100 is 44 watts.. that's almost 20 watts higher than p series chips which are 25 watts. i just hope it doesn't mess up my laptop. t9800 from extreme processor guy is on the way to my home so if this x9100 causes any problem to my laptop, i will probably sell it and just keep t9800. :(

Processor is installed in my laptop. Seems to be running good, I guess I should undervolt it. With prime 95 running and using coretemp to monitor temps it gets up to about 80* c.

When you replaced the processor did you re-apply thermal paste? 50 at idle seems a bit high to me even with that processor.

i am using cpuid hardware monitor and it shows me 25c idle and 62c under full load with my t9800 and similar when i had t9600 or p8400.
core temp gets about 5c higher. but still, that's in acceptable temperature
and no need for undervolting. i just hope x9100 doesn't go like 80c..
