1)I notice some noises coming from it. Everytime when I run something, a low "boom" sound like a vaccum comes up some "dic dic dic" sounds also, is this normal? The dic sounds seem to be coming from my HD while the vaccum sounds seem to be my fan.

    2) I got a HTS541010G9AT00 HD, is that a 5400RPM HD?

    3) What is the brand name for the GCA-4080N?

    4) Is there a way to uninstall AOL completely? I uninstalled everything AOL in the ADD/REMOVE software but it's still there on my taskbar.

Yes, your hard drive is a hitachi 5400 rpm drive.

The brand of that burner is LG (used to be zenith i believe)

Are you talking about AOL being installed or AIM...there is a huge difference between the two. AIM is an instant messanger service provided by aol, but does not need aol to run.

Hitachi hard drives, which yours is, are known for clickling noises. I think it is a 5400RPM hard drive. You can download everest to find out for sure. Right-click on AOL and hit delete.

sometime my fan will stop and then go back on and stay that way until I shut down the notebook, is this normal?

I also deleted all aol files from my computer but the AOL still shows up on the right side of the task bar everytime the computer starts and I can't turn it off.

The fans will run when the computer is hot - I guess. I assume you aren't doing anything with the computer at the time (no load on the CPU, not playing a game or creating a photoshop masterpiece)

Download Mobile Meter http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/8259/ : It gives you some info on CPU speed (which is dynamically controlled), battery charge, and temp of the hard drive.

That reminds me, does anyone know about the other temp sensors in the Gateway. Mobmetter said something about can't measure processor temp b/c there is no acpi notebooks.

PS: My HDD temp stays around 50.0

    cheers, Hope this helps
