Just got my laptop not too long ago now.. I ran Prime95 for 30 minutes and got the CPU up to 53 degrees Celsius. It bounced between that and 52 for the next 5 minutes. I ran Furmark for 30 minutes and got the GPU up to 82-83 degrees Celsius and it stopped there.

Are these good temps for using it without a cooler and in a room that is about 75 degrees Fahrenheit?

Also, what are the max temperatures the CPU, GPU, and HDDs can handle before I should start to worry?

Look if you are blocking any vent.

post which version of BIOS you have.
as for GPU beyond 90 is dangerous, CPU beyond 70-75 is dangerous, and for HDD beyond 55-60 is dangerous.

for better safety those temps should be around 5-10 degrees Celsius lower

    almost forgot to say :p

As you have our laptop for a while try blowing some air in to the vents, they might be full of suet thus preventing cold air to get in and cool the components.

Running Crysis I never got my GPU above 74*C with over clock. And with the same clock and a stand/cooling pad it doesn't get above 64*C

Havn't kept a close eye on the CPU but when I did it didn't get above 55*C

    7earitup- Your temps are normal

The 2 factors that make the most difference (given the system is new and has no dust bunnies etc..) is that the laptop is lifted more than 1" from the surface its on and room temperature (what degree air the fans are sucking in)..When I bought my 7805 and ran it on the surface of my desk with only the rubber grip feet (which are about 3mm off the surface) and my apt was at 80 degrees the CPU's ran at 60 degrees maxed and the GPU at 85 degrees maxed. By propping up the laptop on all four feet about 1 inch and keeping room temp in the 70's..my CPU's max at 50 degrees and GPU max's at 73 degrees..

I just got it today. It is refurbished from Gateway. Cosmetically, it is in perfect condition. It also performs great so far, but I have yet to put any games on it because I am going to setup Raid 0 and install Windows 7.

None of the vents appear to be clogged - they look absolutely brand new.

I will check the BIOS next time I restart it.

Temps seem decent for a room that warm. Like posted above, just prop up at least the back of the laptop, or the entire laptop. Just a half inch to an inch is plenty to let the air flow better.

    Hello Earitup,

Congrats, enjoy your new lappy. The temps seems normal, the same are on my side. As Lum-X posted if you stay below those temps you are ok. I'm sure the bios version is 9C.11.00, so there's no need to flash it.

    Cheers...

Yea mate, definitely lift your laptop off the surface you are seating your laptop on. I use anything I can get a hold of at the moment, like 2 small cardboard boxes or something else small that might work as a stand.

Also, I got a 5.9 index rating in Windows 7 build 7100 64bit, which is better than my desktop.. Lol ;)

How's the screen, 7earitup? Is it crisp/vibrant enough?

I don't see what all the negative fuss is about the 1440x900 screen. It has great color, crispness, and vibrancy, especially when you tweak it a bit in the Nvidia color settings.

I have no complaints on the screen.

I thought the same thing. I love this screen a lot. Great clarity, and with games, AA makes the image quality more than good enough (for me anyway).

Hooking up to my 42" HDTV also makes things look pretty too. :D
