Hey guys, I read this forum a lot but I have only posted a time or 2. You guys have so much info here and I really appreciate it.

I just got my refurb P-7805u FX from tigerdirect. This thing is perfect no blems at all and I have stressed it pretty good just to make sure its working well...

I plan on a few mods for it but they will be a month or two down the road becuase I also just bought an Asus N81vp-C1 from Gentech(thanks a million Ken).

The mods I have planned are a blu ray drive, better processor, and the 1920-1200 screen. My question is on the screen though.

I know a lot of folks don't care for the 1920x1200 screen for gaming but I would like it for playing blu rays...

I have searched for the answer but I can't seem to find it on here.

Can I use one of the ebay screens for the P-7811? They are on ebay for about 165 shipped...

I am 90% sure that you can interchange screens between all(if not most) of the Gateway FX models since they are built on the same chassis.

By tomorrow you'll probably have 5 other people tell you that you can do it and then refer you to a post or two of people who've done the switch.

Congrats on the purchase by the way! :p

i'm all for upgrading, i wish the CPU prices were a bit lower, you could buy a i7 CPU for $200 for a desktop but it costs around $300 for a (slower) CPU upgrade for the 7805u. Be sure to post here if you get the lcd and it works...it 'should' as everyone has said. I've personally never enjoyed replacing LCDs, seems like way too many screws and the cables are always convoluted to reconnect.
