Well I got the newest Bios from them but now when I try to install it through Windows I get this error:
    "m_RomDBCtrl fail!(0x385)"
There is also a .ROM file in the zip that I downloaded. If anyone wants to try them out pm me :)

Looks like it's missing the WFlash.DAT file. I downloaded the .17 bios and compared it to the .20 bios, and it's missing that file.

It looks like someone goofed though. The ROM is supposed to be packaged inside the .exe file, and someone packaged the ROM file by itself in the zip file.

I dunno guys. You can try copying the WFlash.DAT file into the same directory as the IMV-038.exe and flash64.sys files and try it. I don't feel like hosing my system right now though. :D If you do try it, you try it at your own risk, and I ain't buying you a new system if you kill it.

Looks like Gateway pulled the BIOS download from their website. They probably know someone definitely screwed up in the packaging of that BIOS update. I can't wait get my hands on it to see what the changelog is.

I tried Winphlash 1.6.5.6 and got a corrupt table error 161 from the included rom from the zip...............

Edit; I do not know if his is just a Windows 7 issue. I again have tried the 9c.17.00 files as I originally had upgraaded from 9c.12.00 when I had vista. This file worked at thaat time but the same exact bios upgrade file returns the 0x137 error...............

Heh. Am I the first to install this? Well hopefully this BIOS has some use, I haven't seen anything new. Still hoping the features we're all looking for are here. At least I know ryokowashu will check for an unlocked multiplier, pray for quad support? :<

Anyway, here's what I used, just run IMV-038.exe in the 64 directory (I only installed 64 and since I didn't test 32 it is not included.)

Edit: My bad about the link dying, this one's on my MegaUpload account.

Okay. I think these BIOS may be problematic... I've found that my GPU was running from 70C~80C when I had nothing but AOL Instant Messenger open for about an hour, and after restarts, shutdowns etc it was still at 70C~80C, I just switched back to 9C.17 and the heat problem went away immediately, 59C and going down after a restart. Normally my GPU caps at like 75 degrees MAYBE 80 after playing Bioshock 2 for a few hours. lol

Did you notice the fan has been spinning less? That's a big difference in gpu temperature and I'm thinking the fan isn't turning on as often.

I was kind of thinking that too... seemed like maybe it was taking higher temps to make the fan kick up, like when it touched 80 they'd rev up for a little bit to push it back down around 70.... but it never bothered to push it below. Maybe the temperature thresholds for the fans to speed up were lowered. Whatever the reason I think I'll stick with my 9C.17 until another release comes out, would be a shame if these DID have the features we want and yet had this flaw. I guess we could use mods to make the fans stay spinning at a higher speed if that is the case though. I thought BIOS updates were supposed to improve stability, not hurt it. lol

Try the new DOX drivers, 195.62 v1.1 on laptopvideo2go forums, they work very well for me with Powermizer off.

Ok I was able to do the video stability test all the way without crashing and no nvlddmkm.sys errors so far. Before I wasn't able to pass the stability test not even once it would crash my nvidia card. Also the gpu fan doesnt go to full and then turn off now so overall this fixed all my problems. Running gpu temp at 80c with 430fps stress on the video card. So far happy. I will try and install gta4 and play see if anything crashes. My benchmark score also improved significantly.

Hm That is kind of weird. Well I even tried flashing the new BIOS twice to make sure it was the issue, keep an eye on the temps, also I'd like to hear feedback on the temps from andros_forever, if they're not too high I guess I'll give it another go. My temps dropped down to 52C now btw on 9C.17, I wonder if it has to do with that I'm undervolted and OC'd? 667/900/1700 at 0.96V.

Okay here are my results. You should know that I did a bios mod with Nibitor to my GPU and run very underclocked when Browsing the Internet and other Desktop functions. My clocks are 169 core/100 mem/338 shader right now, and on 9c.17 my temps would idle at 46 degrees. My fan would do the regular on/off switch but barely noticeable. Now with the 9c.20 I can tell the fan is barely running, keeping my temperatures around 55 degrees before my gaming session. When I fired up Crysis, I immediately noticed on GPU-Z that the temps were going around 70-75 very fast so I was ready to quit the game but then I noticed at around 75 the fan started to kick in full load. The temps were actually being managed pretty decently but after a while they started slowly climbing up again until 90. Then did not stop again until I quit the game and the temperatures reached about 70 at which point it shuts down completely again, and leave me idling at 70. Obviously this is quite annoying and I am going to try to change the Critical Core Treshold on the GPU bios to a lower value, in the hopes that the Fan will kick in sooner. I'll let you know the results.

Do you really think that would give the desired results? Nibitor even gives the description of the critical core threshold as the following:
    "- Critical threshold
When this limit is reached, the card is drastically slowed down to
bootup clock speeds, until the next reboot."
So it pretty much underclocks the GPU when it reaches that temperature until reboot to prevent damage to the card. Hoping for good results I guess though.

Yea, I was pretty sure I would not get the results I wanted, but I do a lot of trial and error stuff like this. As it was predictable there isn't really any change in Fan Speed, it must be completely controlled by the Bios. I even flashed the old .12 to try it out and it's temperatures are a bit higher than .17.

I believe this was just to fix some errors.
I have been playing gta 4 for like 10 mins and temp was around 71-73c with full setting. Fan was spinning all the time while playing. I forgot to use my laptop cooler I should get less with it. Really happy it fixed the nvidia crashes now I can play!!! downloading dirt 2 right now. Btw my gpu is stock no overclocking or anything like that.

Confirmed. 9c.20 BIOS gives me a +30c difference on GPU idle temperatures. Going to stick with 9c.17.

Here is the one that won't give you the error, but like Devlin also confirmed your idle temps will probably rise about 30 degrees with these ones. Don't recommend this bios at all but if you wish to try it, here it is.
