I was maybe thinking of picking up a p7805, but I was wondering how upgradeable this is?
Can you upgrade cpu, gpu? maybe X9100 or maybe even quad-core if i can get my hands on one.
    What about blu-ray?
What about OS? XP, Linux or OSX

easy on the talk of installing OSX on non-apple computers. talk of it 'round here is against the forum rules due to it being a violation of the EULA of Apple

Was going to say the same thing as Diablo when I read the first post. :p

    For the upgrading, CPU = all P sockets, P8600, P9500, T9400, P9600, T9800, X9100, etc.
GPU = You can't upgrade it.
Blu-ray = Works fine, just search this forum for which to put in it.
    RAM = Up to 8GB I believe.
OS = XP and Vista are the only ones I've seen or heard of people installing on here. Not by any means saying that it wont work with Linux, just haven't heard of anyone trying it, therefore I don't know.
HDD = You can have up to 1TB in RAID0 that I know of at the moment, and it supports Solid State Drives.

    Any other components I missed?

You can also upgrade the screen, and you still should have a free mini PCI slot that you can use for something (turbo memory or really slow SSD or something)

    Thats about it.

Though unless your just going for the "spend a little at a time" route, by the time you actually do upgrade most everything you'll find that you could have bought a better base system to begin with
but it is really fun upgrading stuff :p

    Agreed.
Also, if your going to upgrade CPU and don't feel like spending alot of money, I'd recommend buying your desired CPU, and selling the P8400 that it comes with, and I recommend that you try not to use the P8400 much if you want to get your moneys worth.
Again, that is if your trying to spend as little as possible, if not, keep the P8400 as a backup.
Samething applies to whatever else you want to upgrade.
