Bought a refurb off tigerdirect.ca for $950 Canadian with taxes/shipping. Pretty good deal I say :). I also picked up an Intel 80gb x-25m SSD and going to throw it in the other HDD caddy. I recently built a 4k pc with an i7 965, quad gtx 295s, rampage II extreme ect and sold it because I diddnt need all the power and wanted to grab a notebook for under 1k cad. This is by far the best deal I could find. Im going to install windows 7 RC1 on it and have so fun! so... whats the first thing I should do when I get it?

i would probably use that 80gb ssd as the boot drive...then get yourself a blu-ray (79.99 on ebay shipped) and maybe a bluetooth cable/device......and agree, get rid of that lame sticker (though i left the intel, etc. stickers)

well i cant really tell yah what to do but i can tell yah what i did.
1.bought another hdd for raid (obviously your ssd will be the better option) although i would put that drive in the slot under the touch pad to avoid that heating up.

    2. bluetooth module about 25-30 usd shipped from china not a bad deal if you ned bluetooth.

    3. audio upgrades. i bought an xfi 5.1 surround for my home theater set up and some g35 headphones for gaming. (i also bought an xfi notebook but never use it lol)

    4. get an hdmi cable for video. audio will be much better run through optical since laptop is only hdmi 1.2 compliant

    5. a long extension cable preferably commercial or industrial grade for durability with a nice thick cable gauge. (yah never know when youll need more length for outlets)

    6. lots of people including myself bought another psu for the laptop with a higher wattage rating. (not needed but i got one cause it was $40 from a forum seller)

    7. a good mouse.. i myself bought a razer mamba mouse as its the only good gaming grade wireless mouse in my opinion. i have a vx nano but the receiver broke.

    8. get a long ethernet cable.

    9. if you play emulators or just prefer to play with a game pad i would suggest a wireless 360 receiver and wireless controller. also get a play and charge kit if you dont like using batteries.

10 an external drive with as much space as you can afford that is compatible with esata. i currently have a 1tb western digital black drive in an antec mx-1 case. doesnt go over 35c ever.

    11. some games and software you need like a bluray/dvd player or fraps you know things like that :D

ok now i will list things i have yet to do but will eventually

    1. cpu upgrade most people go with either a p9600 t9600 t9800 or t9900. i myself want to buy an x9100 i know its a high thermal cpu at 44w but i willl eventually upgrade the laptop to a better one in the next year so i think an x9100 would be a good investment. bessides they all cost almost the same

    2. a blueray drive. the drive listed above cant possibly be a writer as those are more around the 200 usd range but i think just a reader would be fine.

    3. laptop cooler. i know im an idiot for waiting so long but meh i think its cooled enough by the air conditioner anyway but i do need one for when i go to other houses and lan parties lol.(raid hdds get it pretty hot)

cant think of anything more but will update as i remember more.

p.s. i know thats alot of stuff but who says you need to buy it all at once i sure as hell didnt lol

I hope you get the 19x12 too, I did. and It's a big difference.

I would upgrade the CPU, but that wouldn't be the first thing to do.
