I was able to get a hold a of replacement keyboard for a Gateway model 8510GZ (model no. PA2, 8000 series) but Gateway just dont want to hand out the info on how to replace the keyboard for this lappy. Anyone have a headsup on where to find any PDF's, pics or the like?

    Problem solved.

I looked up a similar model via the 'Gateway M-Series Service Guide' and used that as a guideline with only a couple noticable differences.

One, there is no reason to pry up the hinges after taking the screws out. They do not appear to be locked into anything else and they will come up when you remove the keyboard cover(LCD panel must be fully open of course).

Two, the keyboard cable comes out by lifting up the black connector clip(a simple 45 degree adjustment) and NOT by sliding the clip back towards the screen.

Other then that the really only tough part of the operation was removing the keyboard cover. You just have to use enough pressure to get an end off. You know the kind... IF I PRY ANY HARDER SOMETHING IS GONNA BREAK kind! A good starting point is a small gap above the HOME and END keys. Since you are replacing the keyboard you might as well remove those keys.

    Good luck.
