Labor Day Sale @ BB

I was wondering if you guys would think the laptops would be on sale at BB during the Labor Day holiday. I'm planning to wait till Labor Day to buy my laptop, with or without a sale.

if they usually do, they probably will, if they usually don't, i wouldn't get my hopes up

 

I think they will at least have a couple laptops on sale...but maybe not the 7811

 

Every Thursday, here at work, I google something along the lines of "Best Buy" ad scans xx yy, where xx yy are the dates of the Sun\Sat of the up coming week for sales. Anyway 99% of the time I find that someone has scanned the upcoming Best Buy ads so you can look them up.

I have already done this and found nothing about the 7811 being on sale. sorry.

 

yeah the scans for next week are posted, you'd have to wait till next weds or Thurs most likely to see the BB Labor Day weekend ad to pop up.

Good luck! When I bought my 7811 last week it wasn't even on display, much less on sale - they were still flogging the previous machine at my local Best Buy and the sales guy made out like he didn't even know there was a newer machine available...

i doubt the 7811FX'll be on sale, prob the 6850FX if anything.

Yup just confirmed it as well. I am taking back the one I bought last week today (never got around to opening it) and will rebuy it on the 31st since my 14 days will be up on Friday.

Man this is AWESOME. A week before Fry's ads came out for Black Friday, I hoped for the Q6600 to drop to $199 (yeah I know, a $100 drop is intense) and when BF came, the price was $199 + a free crappy mobo. **** I WAS SO HAPPY!

You don't need to go through the trouble of all that. Just take them the receipt, and tell them you want the difference. They'll honor it for 30 days after the purchase. Worked great with my 42" Sharp Aquos LCD. They dropped the price two weeks after I purchased it and got about $150 back.

 

That's right Rancid, chrisb has a point there. Also the item isn't one of those limited quantity (per store) deals. If it were then the price guaranty doesn't apply. Looking at the ad, it looks as if the item is just on sale and not a door-buster.

Also, for those that haven't purchased one yet, if they run out of the laptop when you go on Sunday (or midweek) you can always get a raincheck.

It is 14 days for notebooks, Best Buy Price Match Policy Link. Luckily I just just exchanged my laptop and since I first bought it as an in-store pickup, they had to return the defective one and then ring up the new one, so I have a receipt from August 25th. Looks like I gotta go back in this weekend and get me $200 back. Wonder if I can finagle a free game while I'm there. Probably not, but we'll see.

 

People who jumped on the P7811 on the 1st few weeks must be pissed now they've dropped $200 off.

I would wait a few more weeks and see if any deals for a refurb unit for under $1k

I am pretty sure it is 14 days on a laptop and 30 on most other products. I specifically asked the sales lady I bought it from and she told me 14 days to return and price match. I am not going to risk it since it is unopened anyways. The sale is 08/31-9/6 I believe.

I bought the P-7811 little over a week ago, so I should be eligbled to the reimburse of 200 $, right? How is this done in practice? I'm about to travel outside US before 31st, is there a possibility to remotely handle the reimbursement?

 

I've never heard of any one successfully getting a refund remotely. Due to fraud prevention, I would guess you would have to do this in person.

 

@ Vision33, well I guess that means that the people who bought 8/17 and later would be fine. Prior to 8/17 and you're outta luck.

 

Just returned the laptop without any issues to BB. Going to rebuy it tomorrow and price match on Sunday that way I ensure I get one.

 

check the link I put up, has all the info. you have to go in and do it in person and it's 14 days from date of purchase for notebooks.

Hmm, I have been looking at laptops but I was more interested in a 15" model. But I have been considereing the 6860 because my local bestbuy has it on clearance for $950, but this sale price on the 7811 is making me consider that now too. Maybe they would drop the 680 even more since they don't have any room on the displays for the 7811. I am sure they are trying to get rid of the old model to make room for the 7811. But for the extra cost, you get a better montevina chipset and a better screen. This sale is making my decision harder.

I would get the 6860 if it's sold that price instead of the 7811 FX ($1249 is just a small drop in price compared to its MSRP $1399). Best Buy increased the price by $50 over the real price.

 

I predicted it....and it has happened!

 

Not really, 14 days is for "un-opened" box, you get full value refunded. If you opened and used the laptop, then it is subjected to restocking fee and you have 30 days to return any "opened" merchandise and also pay the restocking fee of 20%.

I returned the Toshiba Qosimos X305 the next day once I've read the announcement of the P-7811FX. Luckily I didn't open the box.

When I bought it back to BB, they inspected it completely to ensure I really didn't open the box inside and out in order to refund me back 100%.

 

Actually, I asked from BB if the price match can be done over phone. And it appears that it can be done by calling to the number mentioned in your link and having your credit card number and receipt ready.

 

@vision33r, my post was in regards to the price matching policy not the refund policy. Sorry bout the confusion. (if you bought it 8/17 and later can price match the 8/31 Sunday sale price)

 

with the extra $100 saved..you can afford to upgrade to the Intel x9100! Maybe ya should get mine

 

I purchased the x305 on 8/16 and returned it due to a "defect ;-)" on the 8/23 and purchased the 7811 on 8/23 while at the store.

The new BB receipt says

8/23/08
Exchange riginal transaction date.

Will they go by 8/16 or 8/23..I'm assuming since it was a sale of a different laptop my 14 days started over on the 23rd.

Who wants to bet the say..... no you only had 7 days left when you return the first one. Sorry you 1 day past the 14 days. LOL

okay guys whoever is jumping on this $1249 price you should be able to save extra $100 using online internet signup coupon from bestbuy. Go to bestbuy.com and sign up for internet service at your address. It will give you $100 coupon that you can take to local store when you buy laptop.

I bought the laptop online and picked it up at the store.

 

Crap, that bites! I was planning on buying one today and then go back for the difference on Sunday. I guess I'll wait till Sunday then and hope I can get one.

The Orange Box (Free Game) + 7811 FX = $1350-$1400 after taxes = AWESOME!

 

It is $1330 for NM. I already got two yesterday and got guarantee from a store manager for the price match. I will also be able to pick two games on Sunday.

 

If you sign-up for internet service, you must commit to their service and there are termination fees, that actually cost more than the $100 coupon.

Many idiots over at slickdeals dotnet fell for this $100 coupon and didn't even read the fine print.
