    Laptop troubles... Gateway 7510gx

    Okay, so on Monday I was moving my laptop from my desk to my bed... and the battery drops out-- I guess I was pushing the button that releases it without realizing...

    When I turned my computer on again... it says that windows can not find local profile and so I have to use a temporary profile... that doesn't have any of my settings or files! When I open itunes there is no music, when I go to word none of my documents are there, when I open firefox it's as if I am using it for the first time... and if I switch users I can see the name of my main profile but same thing...

    I have a gateway laptop... I tried calling their customer service but they wanted to charge me $60 and the girl on the phone sounded like she didn't know what she was talking about... and I briefly tried google search to see what I could find but was unsuccessful!

    Has this happened to anyone? Is this serious? What can I do?! Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

    Thank you so much! I did a system restore and it worked! You don't understand how you've helped me!! I'm a grad student and I really needed this issue fixed.

    Sweet!!! Glad to help, now get your files backed up, that way if something really bad happens you'll be covered, external HDDs are cheap.:wink:
