So every single driver in the 174 and 175 series has been downclocking my graphics chip to its lowest speed after a couple minutes of gameplay. I've been monitoring temps and they seem normal. Never anything over 66c. Usually hovers around 62-64 while running 3dmark06. I've read about other people who have had this problem on their laptops. My laptop will downclock the gpu even when plugged in. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? The laptop I have is the P-6831.

Actually, this problem is still occurring after I went back to the drivers that the laptop came with. It clocks the gpu/mem at 200/100 which really blows for gaming. I made sure to completely remove the laptopvideo2go drivers before installing the gateway driver again.

maybe u have nsync on? and check to see what ur vista notebook power profile thing is put it up on performance oinstaed of whatever else is on there!

One of the first things I checked was my power profile. I have it set to high performance when the laptop is plugged in. I made sure that it is in this power profile when my graphics chip underclocks itself. Is there a way to adjust my 2d clock settings? Or change the settings so that the computer cannot switch to 2d clock mode while plugged in? I figured thats the way it would be while the computer is set on 'High Performance' but obviously its not working right. I'm gonna try uninstalling the driver again and reinstalling it.

I'm using 175.63 and after reading your post I checked my clocks plugged in and with it set to high performance Nvidia Monitor shows 200 core 100 memory clock. So I just started AOC and I'm getting 48fps at 1440x900 which I know clocked at that speed would be impossible so I just alt-tabbed back to Windows its reporting 500/800. So are you noticing actual speed decrease while playing the games?

Thankfully the problem is fixed after my last uninstall/reinstall of the drivers. I was alt tabing to check the cards speed during games while I had the problem. What would happen is about 2-3 min into any game the computer would appear to freeze and then the game would run slow. I would check the clock speeds and they would be at the lowest 2d setting of 200/100. I always keep my NV monitor running in the background so i can keep an eye on the temps. Normally during gaming the clock speeds would say the default 500/800 when I alt tabed, but when I had this issue they would get stuck at the slowest speed and nothing would get them out of that mode(overclocking didnt work, quiting and restarting games didnt work, and changing the power profile didnt work). I would have to restart in order to fix it. Thanks for the help guys
