So I had trouble with the Call of Duty series as some of you might now and I finally gave up -- too much hassle. I decided to buy L4D which is a riot. Anyway, I was trying out several video options with mixed results but late yesterday I finally hit one that seems to work like a charm -- Triple Buffering.

I'm running at native res, no aa, medium details with triple buffering on. I seem to get a consistent 60fps. I'm just wondering what settings you gatewayer's might be using and what your experiences have been?

I'm on the 7811fx with nvidia beta drivers, btw.

Yo! Im running the 7805u and running at about 40-50fps at:

    Everything maxed
    1920X1200
    2Xaa

Newest Dox driver but I was getting the same performance on the latest Nvidia as well.

I found the best performance to be:
    -native res
    -no aa
-I believe the first graphic option is 'shader' - set that to medium
-the other 2 options set to high
    -triple buffer on
    -multi core on

The two biggies for me were: triple buffer and the shader option. The shader option for me killed my fps and turning triple buffer on helped me maintain super smooth gameplay.

    I use:

    1440x900
    8x csaa
    8x af
    shaders very high
    all others high
    vsync on, triple buffered

It mostly stays 50-60 fps, sometimes down to the 40's in large areas or with crazy action going on. I once tried dropping the shaders down to high, and the graphics lost a bit of... depth or luster. Its hard to explain, but I will only tolerate very high. :) You guys with the 78xx's are able to overclock much higher than my 6860, so the game should run fine all maxed out.

For some reason the multi-core function on L4D has been causing me all sorts of trouble when trying to host the game. The game lags about every 10 seconds and nobody is able to stay connected for more than a minute. Once I turn off multi-core it works perfectly though.

Other than that I am running native resolution, max settings, vsync, triple buffering, and 4x aa,af. I don't think I ever drop below the 40fps mark.
