I see some success in replacing the factory dvd drive for a blue ray drive but I am interested in replacing the Labelflash drive for a Lighscribe drive. Anyone???

I would also like to know if there is a Lightscribe SATA drive which will install and line up w/the pre-exisiting holes. Any help would be highly appreciated

It should work pretty easily, just swap the drives and change the faceplate.

I used to have an HP with lightscribe and i didnt notice any differences in size of the drives (though i never took it out to measure so take this advice with a grain of salt)

One question though... as its essentially the exact same thing, why would you care if you have lableflash or lightscribe?

Probably availability of media. Labelflash media is still not as mainstream as Lightscribe.

Some of us who replaced our drives with BluRay drives actually had the firmware that supported lightscribe + BD and there was success with lightscribe working. The BD playback required Anydvd to work properly though along with a player. So with just a lightscribe drive I think you will have a high probability of it working.

I would wonder on how much media you plan on burning? I think you would have to burn quite a few before you made up the price difference.....
