@TANWare - In the UK we're having a cold spell at the moment, and my house is bloody cold. That, and I've got one of those Zalaman notebook coolers. The only thing that remains consistently hot is my gpu. I think it's to do with that cooling pad. Would have taken it out and replaced it with some thermal paste but the gap is far too big, which sucks.

The only difference i noticed between my original heatsink and its replacement was the amount of tension in the spring encapsulating screw 5 around the northbridge chipset.

I literally had to push the replacement heatsink down firmly to screw it into place; something which i previously did not have to do with the original. This most likely provides the largest contact between the 2 mating surfaces. Both were A002 rev. with the cooling fins.

I'm guessing this is the primary reason why i am experiencing 25-28C idling @ 1.137v (3.06GHz) with help from a Cryo LX. Ambient room temperature approx 20-21C.

Previously, i had to remove the entire backpanel, copper shim the NB chipset, epoxy copper blocks to the heatsink and downclock the X9100 to SFLM mode on 1.000v to simply idle at 31C with the Cryo LX's help. Prior to that, i was idling at 50C with just the stock heatsink (A002 rev) without the mods.
