the x9000 will work, but keep in mind that it is designed to run hotter than both the T9300 and T9500 as it has a 44 watt TDP, whereas the T9300 and T9500 have a 35 watt TDP. if you are concerned about heat at all, i would not recommend the x9000 because of that.

another thing is that because of the higher TDP of the x9000 vs. the other two processors, is that if you are concerned about battery life, you will have a much shorter battery life if you upgrade to the x9000.

i have a four hour battery life with the T9300 with the brightness all the way down, set on power saver. brightness set all the way up, its still over 3.5 hours. this is all an estimation of battery life provided by RMclock cpu management software, as i dont hardly ever go anywhere with the laptop, so it has not been verified.

from the cpus stated, the 9300 is the best buy by far.
the extra punch of the x9000 comes with a hefty price tag.
the t9500 is usually overpriced as to performance gain over the t9300.
the t8300 shouldn't be overlooked if on a budget.

as for me the x7800 was the best bang for buck at the time, with the price of being more hot as 44w / 65nm cpu.
battery life is no issue if using RMclock to undervolt.

anyway u cant go wrong here :)

Hi i also recently bought the m6850fx, and i found its processor insufficient so i called gateway about if they can upgrade it, and they said it is not a replaceable processor. So I was wondering if any of you have upgraded it, tell me how it works, since i am also thinking about getting the t9300 in a few months, or whenever the price drops.

it is possible, its just gateway dont want you to do it.
dont sell the old cpu in case you will need service (gateway might use it to void your warranty)
