Has anyone heard anything about or own/used either of these two lappys? they are the exact same but the 6882 model is Canadian while the 6883 is American and has Bluetooth. MSRP is $899 for both. The 6882 is on sale for $800 until November 28 at Staples Canada.

    Specs:

    T5800 2.0GHz, 800MHz fsb, 2MB L2 cache
    320GB 5400rpm HDD
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 512MB GDDR3
    4096MB 667MHz DDR2 (2-2048 MB)
    Vista Home Premium 64-bit

    P.S. Is the GDDR3 2600 really a 2600XT? because I've seen a 2600 with GDDR2 and I'm not sure which is which.I need confirmation on this.

I just bought this one a few days ago from Stooples. It's good. Get the extended warranty though as laptops don't last that long and this is a low-end Gateway after all.

    PROS
    - cheap, chunky (=durable?) like an old GM car from the 80s, video is great (handles 720p no prob), nice feel to the keys, sturdy hinge (a complaint I have of my now dead Acer Aspire 5100), heat fan is on left and not in the back nice if you have a small desk like me, great screen, handles dual monitor no problem, multitasks without skipping a beat, ran Office, Photoshop, Flash, Word, Outlook, Firefox, IE, itunes, Chrome, watched 720p video, downloaded torrents, and transferred 20gb of music over USB drive without any problems (thats my typical usage :), sturdy DVD drive tray

    CONS
    - A bit bulky and heavier than I expected, internal Intel wifi seems like crap (won't see my N network at all), no bluray, all the crapware Gateway installs, havent tried this enough but I think it forgets usb devices if you unplug them, startup seems slow as a pig (i guess thats vista), comes with Vista Home so you wont be able to see dynamic drives (sucks if your previous puter had dynamic drives) so you need to hack the boot partition for DDs, sound is a bit tinny from the cheapo speakers. Not many complaints really.

    Good puter for the price.

DO NOT get Acer. My 5100 is crap and built like crap.
