Hello, I'm a first time poster here, but this is a problem I've had for five months or so. When my laptop was shipped to me, I noticed that the display was discolored (only over colors other than white and black, in vertical flickering lines, replacing colors with shades of pinks and teal). At first I thought it was a problem with Windows, so I did a full wipe/install, and that didn't solve the problem. I then assumed it was my graphics card, but when plugging external monitors into my laptop (LCD or CRT), the display is fine. Soon after this, I realized that if I place very very gentle pressure on my screen, the colors will instantly revert back to normal. However, usually whenever I let go, the colors get distorted again.

Sometimes this "sticks," which is when I can only really use the computer without getting a headache. Rather, I'll gently press and then slowly let go, and all the colors will be fine. This works great until I have to move the laptop (which laptops are designed to be great for, though this desktop replacement is a little less mobile than some), and the screen gets bumped against something and the odd colors are back.

Has anyone heard of this problem before? Is it a loose connection somewhere, or are the LCD screens not pressed up against each other tight enough (a speculation I have, though I have little to no experience in LCD construction)?

And, most importantly, is there anything I can do save from sending the laptop in to get a new screen, at the cost of $550 or so..?

Thank you for taking your time to read this, and for any help you may offer.

I have the exact same problem with my Gateway M675 notebook.
Please let me know if you have figured out a solution to this. My email address: [email protected]

The whole display goes blurring with horizontal lines and I can't make out anything on the display.

And sometimes it just comes back okay all by itself.

Sometimes it comes back okay when I uninstall the display graphics adapter. But this solution too doesn't work all the time.

Im from the Uk and have the exact same problem as described above. I bought my laptop from a person in America and its a custom built one. Im not sure of the make but sometimes when i turn on my laptop the screen is green and when i get to windows its all green and pink and odd colours. I can also see the refresh rate and its clearly a cut wire or something wrong inside the machine.

Occasionaly when i press the screen or just shake it or move it goes back to normal. If ANYONE knows a fix or can help out how to get it fixed it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
