I went to Bestbuy to check out the Sony which I intended to buy. I had cheap gateway before and don't want to buy gateway again.

then I saw Gateway MC7801U. One word: "Wow" and Sony was quickly gone from my list.

In its price range, I don't think any other laptop can beat this Gateway. it is much better in style, features, and value than Dell Studio 15 and Sony NS series.

Here are some key features that impressed me:

    1) Stylish both inside and outside
    2) Illuminated keyboard
    3) flat wide LCD
    4) touch hot keys
    5) loaded with hardware (4GB RAM, 320GB HHD, GM45 chipset) at a low price
    6) Run cool on palm rest and bottom.

    anyone impress with this laptop?

btw, Coso carries a lite version MC7321u but at a full price $899.

Probably the lack of a dedicated video card doesnt interest many people. i looked on the gateway website and i guess they do make one with a ATI 3650, while not horrible per say is not really a gaming card either. if it had a 9800xx nvidia card in it i would probably go look at it :).

i know not everyone is a gamer royk50, but im stating the obvious that why he has not seen any replies to his comment was because of that . you dont have to look far in this forum to see that the bulk of people posting are gamers and are interested in high end rigs with dedicated video cards.

it could be that majority of people in this forum are gamers who have no interest in anything but Nvida or ATI.

but this laptop is not targeting gamers but casual/average consumers. excluding serious gamers, this laptop look like a close-to-perfect laptop that I have not seen for a long time. it got all the hot selling point: value, design, and features.

I'm attacking both of you guys now.. Quad, you shouldn't assume you're being attacked, unless you truly are. And royk, you shouldn't attack unless you really mean it. why don't y'all get it straight?!

And my opinion is that you're both half right. :p However, the OP mentioned non-serious gamers..and average consumers. Just a heads up, this is meant to be a multi-media rig, for movies and music, internet, and Notepad :p And, it will likely not play ANY current games.. well, not without some major chopiness and such. However, I do agree it's a good looking system.

EDIT: I was being sarcastic, and bored. Ignore me.
