A friend just dropped off her MT3707 for a "downgrade" to XP. It's the first Gateway I've worked on and took me awhile to notice the card reader. For the life of me I can't remove the slot protector. I assume it is spring loaded and should be just a matter of pushing it in and having it pop out so you can grab ahold of it. Doesn't work. I tried prying it out with my fingernails and a small precision screwdriver but it budges maybe a few millimeters and I don't want to risk cracking any plastic. Any ideas?

You have to push it in fairly deep for it to release and pop out.

Computer gone back to the owner now. Trust me, it can't be pushed any deeper even when exerting exteme force in an attempt to do so. Turns out she has never used the card reader so I can't say if it was like that from day one or not. I was tempted to take the machine apart and have a look, but seeing how it's not mine I figured discretion was the better course of action.
