    Hello there,

I have a Gateway MT6451 and I've been having an issue recently that when I do things outside the OS, I get a double keystroke whenever I use the keyboard. For example, if I access the BIOS and try to use the arrow keys to navigate from menu to menu, it will jump over the next menu and go to the second.

I also recently had an episode where Vista didn't start up correctly, resulting in me getting a screen called Windows Recovery and asked the options of if I wanted to repair windows(recommended) or start windows normally. If I pressed the arrow key to go to start windows normally, it automatically went back to repair windows.

This issue is getting extremely frustrating. I had also tried running Ubuntu on live CD, but when I tried to use the arrows to change install options, it again skipped over one of the choices. Double keystroke. If anyone could offer some possible insight as to what the heck it going on, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

See if you have the same problem when using a USB keyboard. If not, I'd bet that your laptop keyboard is at fault. Try reseating the connector ribbon cable. If that doesn't fix it, replace the keyboard.
