Can anyone help me by letting me know how to repair a left hinge on an MX6025 notebook? I know I can buy the part online, but have not figured out how to open the notebook screen in order to replace/fix this hinge. Please help, thanks

    Hi there,
Any chance you could post a picture of your damaged hinge? I wouldn;t mind taking a look at it.

    Thanks,
    SyN

    Yet another broken hinge
I'm starting to question whether i shoudl get the a gateway notebook.
However, the model I want to get is a newer 14" (see pic and specs). Does it have the same hinge problems? Has gateway fixed thier designs so that the hinges don't take on so much pressure that they crack?

(here's the site for the laptop: http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Q106/Bishop/1009049nv.shtml
    any opinions?)

I seem to have a similar problem. Both of my hinges seem to be OK but the screen cover next to and on the outside of each hinge has cracked(maybe this is a part of the hinge). Also sometimes when I move(adjust) the screen it will go blank. When I reboot it is OK. Has anyone had any success replacing the hinges and or screen cover?

sweeeeet selection for a laptop though, i love the fact that this model is allowing up to 2GIGs of memory especially the fact that i love my memory in my current laptop 533mhz and low voltage is soooo nice when running the laptop for long periods of time, it doesn't burn up ur ram or anything. plus! that model has a good video chipset in it NVIDIA!. i'm only running a 64mb shared RAM video of some VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro thing and it's not the best at allllll for gaming (not that it's intended for gaming) but still...it's great for multimedia and whatnot.

I just bought my MX6453 (15.4") screen in October 2006 and it already has a crack on the left hinge. I don't know if the smaller screen has a better reputation.

Ask Gateway...the left hinge on my 6752 broke and I went to their live online chat. Within 3 days they sent me the replacement part so I could fix it myself.
