    Hey all,

Quick story: I was unfamiliar with Gateway notebooks, and the whole "do it yourself" Recovery CD. Knowing that pre-made computers are always cluttered with crap, I formatted my HD, including a partition containing all the device drivers. Gateway's support site offers the wrong drivers for the notebook, and of course BB was no help either.

I took about a week of mucking around. But I've got a list of all the drivers you'll need if you want to install XP yourself, and avoid all that packaged Gateway crap.

I figured, since the MX6131 was on sale last week at Best Buy, a few people may have picked it up and might have run into the same driver hell. These drivers are for Windows XP, just want to make that clear.

    Card Reader
http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/getFile.asp?id=20416&uid=113659548 (One of two of the correct drivers offered by Gateway)

    Chipset ID Utility
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scr...pUtil.exe&DwnldId=8264&ProductID=861&lang=eng (Confirm that you have the Intel 852/855 GM/GME chipset)

    Chipset Drivers

    Graphics Drivers
    http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scr...All&OSFullName=All+Operating+Systems&lang=eng

    Ethernet Drivers
http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php (Scroll down to the BCM4401 drivers, pick your OS and you're set.)

    Modem
http://conexant.com/support/md_driverdownload.jsp (Click "Modem Driver Assistance" at the top. Click agree on the next page. Then look at the HSF Generic Modem Drivers, and click the AC 97 driver for your OS. You can also get the List Modem Application to confirm you have the right modem.)

    Sound
    ftp://ftp.zdnet.de/pcpro/treiber/sound/realtek/WDM_A381.exe

    Wireless Drivers
http://support.gateway.com/support/...s LAN DriverVersion: 3.100.64.1&uid=113662300 (The other working driver from Gateway.)

I wasn't able to test the modem. It does respond to queries fine. But if someone could confirm, it would be appreciated.

    Hope this helps. :)

    Good job :)
I think this deserves a sticky.
Maybe someone could make one for the MX7525 as well?

Thanks for the help on the drivers. They all seem to work but I'm having a problem with my wireless card. The software the comes with the driver is telling that the radio is not enabled and that I have to use the hardware control switch to activate it. I have checked over my enitire laptop and can't find any switch. If anyone knows where this is or what else might be causing the problem your help would be greatly apprecieated.

Come to find out this is the Wireless adapter 105324 - Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection (WM3B2200BG). So I am going to see if I can find a driver now.

I have tried everything and all drivers that I can find. I have tried the ones from Gateway, From Intel, From Broadcom and from SoundMax, no luck with any of them, this is the last device that I need to install so that I have a fully clean and functional install and am able to run the Windows XP Restore and Backup utility just incase Ihave any issue latter.

By the way THank You so much Dark Delight - Your drivers list really and truely has been a help thus far, Ihave been able to install every device listed except this one - Out Standing Dude

first, holy crap this is the worst site I've been to on this iPod touch... Popup ads during login and ubermini reply buttons suck...

Anyway, Gateway screwed the pootch again... The wireless driver link is now a 404... It's a broadcom bcm 4318 card if you dont have the intel one... That should help in searching for the drivers online

Apparently the Gateway mx3215 has the same card
