Just off the truck at BB, MX7118... definately not the replacement to the 7515. Quickly looked at specs... same case as 7000 line, 3400+ 64 mobile 512 ddr, 80 gig 4200hdd, x200 not x600 :(. Not bad computer but not for gaming. I dont know if this is a special like they ran on the 7508 i think it was... but we have a lot and should be in the ad soon i suppose. More later.

Given what the price point on the 7508 was, this could be a really good bargain machine. I could see these going for $800 and quite frankly, $800 is a heck of a price for a machine with those specs.

Yeah 799 after 150 instant or something is what i was thinking too. Judging by the amount we have, I assume that Sunday they will go on sale and be gone everywhere by Tuesday at the latest. Not a bad machine at all for someone who plays light games, does some photos, etc. Im sure ill sell a ton of them

Found out today that the 7118's 512 memory is 1 512 stick under the keyboard... thats right... the user accessible slot is...empty... so upgrades are easy and useful. When you search it on the site it says its a 3200+ but i have verified that it is a 3400+ 2.2 tomorrow will be the big day i believe.. wont be surprised if its in the ad for 800-850

Thanks for the information Uscooper. :)

Anyone in the market for a lesser-priced but powerful notebook will find this an attractive choice. I can see it competing with the HP zv6000/Compaq R4000.

It's listing for $1,000 and on sale for $849. That is an outstanding deal.

Yeah, it is being advertised in Best Buy's Sunday flier as "Media Center to Go".

I was hoping to see the 7515 follow on. I guess that will have to wait.

Hi all. New to the forums.

I got the MX7118 notebook for my son for Christmas from bestbuy for 849. I was wondering what was in the mini-pci slot? My gateway info doesn't tell me and I only found out it was a mini- pci slot from the web.

I was just wondering if it was the ATI RADEON X300 graphics card, and can it be upgraded?

    Thanks
    Dave

I hate to break it to ya, but it is not upgradeable. And it is an X200.

Thanks.. I didn't think it was upgradable but just thought I'd ask. However is that where the X200 card is.. in the mini-pci slot?

Anyway my son hasn't had any problems playing games on it yet, unlike the acer as5004. I took that back within 2 weeks. VERY bad graphics.

    Thanks
    Dave

That's where the wireless network card is. The X200 is integrated into the motherboard.
