Heya. Hope i can get some help here. I have a MX-7122 and it startedto have a problem. It just shuts itself off, well not OFF, but screen goes black...HDD works for a few seconds..maybe 30 then does nothing. Needs to turn off and reboot. It also sometimes freezes, then the screen goes weird, like lines thru the screen, and fades to diff colors slowly, gets kinda blurry then freezes. I am 99% sure it is NOT HEAT RELATED! Because i have a home made fan pan and trust me, it's cool lol. I have a Xpress 200M vid card, i installed the 200m drivers, and the Catalyst program and still did it. Then uninstalled it and tried the drivers only, even for the Xpress 200. Still does it. I ran a benchmark program on it and all passed, ram, vid, cpu, all that jazz. HELPPPP!!!!

Have you checked the hard drive for errors? If you've checked everything else and it isn't a hard drive failure then it sounds like you may have a motherboard issue. It's hard to diagnose via the forums.

OK, this is what i have found out. I downloaded a program called FreshDisgnose as per a recommendation from a buddy. I ran all tests. When i run the video test and it does all it's funky video things it freezes every time. Or atleast 8 out or 10 times. I am assuming it is the vid card since my memory always showsit is working well on every test. But, i believe the video is integrated in the motherboard, is it not? Anyone know? WHat are my options if it is. THANKS

I went in to see if they would do anything for me and to no suprise theysaid nothing. They also said a benchmark video test would not work for this type of video card system since it is integrated. Any suggestions, comments?

When I press the start button, the hard drive LED will blink four times and nothin happens it will not go to the bios screen itself. Some times if shake it, it will start. i don't know what to do.

the video memory is your main memory. I would try taking out the main memory and reseating it. I would also run a DRAM testor that runs out of dos.....I forgot the name....but its a better testor than the windows versions.

Well, seems it was a software issue. Formatted and has not done it since. Go figure.

I can tell you exactly what the issue was...it's the latest ATI Catalyst drivers. They have been competely screwed up. I had the same issue last month when I updated to the latest ones on my MX7120. I don't know why it did it, but I would be using it, and the screen would just go completely blank...it just kinda faded out really quickly. Although, the hard drive was still running I couldn't do anything. I updated to the ones they released in May, so they may have fixed it in the June release.

It took me a couple of days to figure it out...I thought I was going to have to send the laptop in for repair, but I remembered that it started happening right after I installed the latest Catalyst drivers. so, I uninstalled them, and sure enough, that fixed the issue.

I don't know what ATI/AMD's problem is lately...the Catalyst drivers that they've been releasing since April have been complete ****! A couple weeks ago, I upgraded to the latest ones on my desktop. I have dual monitors, and for some reason, it made both of my LCDs very dim. So, I uninstalled the June drivers and tried the May drivers...still had the issue....then, I installed the April drivers...still the same issue! So, I'm stuck with the March drivers on both my laptop and desktop. They're all completely different operating systems, too. My laptop runs XP x64 and my desktop runs Vista x86. I'm assuming that you run XP MCE 2005?
