Hi everyone,
I just had a quick question. I have a MX7515 with the 5400rpm hardrive in it. I noticed that the fan of my laptop is on a lot more then my previous MX7515 with the 4200rpm harddrive. I was wondering if Laptop Cooler would fix the problem? If so, which one would you recommend?

I have the MX7525 with 4200rpm drive, but the fan was running on high more than I wanted. Got a Targus Chill Mat for $10 after rebate at Compusa. Fan hardly comes on now, and never on high. Doesn't seem to have much affect on battery (not that great to begin with). It really makes a difference when sitting it on your lap. For $10 it's worth a try. Works for me.

Just for kicks you may want to get HDTune just to monitor the temp and see if there is a correlation that is driving the fan on.

i have HDTunes and the temp of the HD is about 46-48C, which i think is normal.
I was thinking of going an picking a Laptop cooler today.
Im looking at the Vantec LapCool3:

Or the Targus Chill Mat that Matt F was talking about:

i dont know how the Laptop cooler will work with the MX7515 and the MX7525 since the fan for these models are on the back side and not the bottom!
Has anyone else used a laptop cooler on these models? -
it will still help keep the bottom of the machine cool since the hdd is on the bottom... any air given to the machine will be noticable

Uscooper do you have a Laptop Cooler on your MX7515?

yeah my last MX7515 laptop rarely had the fan on, but the one i have now with the 5400rpm gets a bit warmer. It doesnt get hot but warm enought to have the fan turn on more then i like to.
I just got the LapCool 3. Ill let you guys know if it does anything. So far the temperature that HDTune shows is about 42.
