My MX 7515 won't turn on  I've reseated the hard drive and reseated the memory to no avail. When plugged in the ac power cord led lights up, but thats it. Can this machine run without the battery in? Mine doesn't but I wonder if anyone elses does.

this model should have no issue with running w/o the battery being inserted.

error message? noise? try unplug ac & battery, holw down power button for 30-40 secs, replace ac/battery then try again, sometimes static builds up and would not let power feeding thru the board.

    cheers ...

if u can find/borrow another ac adapter, then try that next (check the voltage output, make sure that it shows what it says on the label

then the next not.so.expensive thing to try is the power bezel/strip (u probably can find it on eBay - there is a seller SpinItch_inc, he is very knowledgeable about eMachines/Gateway; mail him for more queries if u so desire)

more than that, i m afraid that ur board is taking a dive

    cheers ...

I had it fixed it today...it was actually the power button itself...tech sais theres a plastic contact that is underneath key on keyboard that cracked...95.00 later...could of been worse.
