I used this program to update my video driver since Gateway never releases any. It lets you update your driver with the desktop version of the Radeon X600. When I install this it changes the amount of video RAM that my diagnostic screen reads to 256 MB (previously 128 MB).
I ran my computer on this patch for nearly a year, and my computer just gave out a couple weeks ago. I started getting the BSOD constantly.
Gateway replaced my computer, but I am a little hesitanat to put the patch back on, even though it did cause a significant change in performance.
Does anybody know if this patch is safe to use? Link below

Why not use the driver from ATI that comes for your card. They udpated drivers back in February. If I check right then your card is the ATI Radeon x600?!?! If so then you can go to www.ati.amd.com and you will see the update drivers page. Yours is http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html . Let me know if this helps. I would say based on your last experience with this issue that you should use that certified drivers and not some homemade drivers.

You should not have problems with that driver...those modded drivers are just as safe as ATI ones unless you start playing with overclocking and timing settings.
I personally use Omega ones for a long time w/o any problems (omegadrivers.net), I also own a MX7515.
The memory upgrade (128->256) you see is because newer drivers enable more Hypermemory from your RAM, it's safe also...and better for some games.
On X600 is almost a must to have latest (modded) drivers since our GPU is becoming very weak nowadays.
Try Omega ones or just go to the graphics section of the forum...there is a link to the latest ATI certified drivers.
Good luck!
