I read that the USB 2.0 bus will show up as "enhanced", but the 4 usb ports show up in the system properties just like USB 1.0, did they make a mistake or did I get the wrong ports?

Thanks for posting your device manager screenshot. Mine looks just like yours. I always figured the "enhanced" in the first entry was enough. I don't get a warning when I plug in my usb2 device, so I guess I'm okay. It doesn't seem slow to me... Is USB2 working on the machine? -
Try using Windows Update to update your usb drivers.

Anybody have any new info about this issue?

Check with a different program the mobo specs...Sandra 2005 tells me that it has 2 USB 1.0 controllers and 1 USB 2 controller with speeds of 1.5Mbps to 480Mbps.
I will check how fast it goes with my external USB 2 hdd and let you guys know.
I wonder if the side and back USB ports are different speed...maybe that's why....have you checked with all plugs?Attached Files:

Looking deeper I realized that all my USB2 capable peripherials are recognized as USB2, but performance is really bad. My external HDD enclosure does only 7,8MB/s on Sandra2005 performance test...my old presario does 29MB/s !!!!!!
Something is wrong here......
BTW, if I connect the drive to a targus USB2 hub, it keeps disconnecting...I needed to connect directly to my 7515 to make it work. -
From the Gateway site:
<DL><DT>MX7515<DT>..........<DT>Interfaces <DD>4 - USB 2.0 Ports <DD>1 - VGA External Connector <DD>1 - IEEE 1394 port <DD>1 - S-Video External Connector <DD>1 - RJ11 <DD>1 - RJ45 <DD>Microphone In <DD>Headphone / Audio Out </DD></DL>...........
MX7515 doesn't have USB 2.0?
