My computer will no longer turn on. Anyone had trouble with the power button before. It has been hard to turn on the past couple of weeks and finally does not power up at all. The AC light is on near the keypad showing that it is getting power. The battery is freshly charged. The button just doesn't feel right. How do I replace it?

either take it back to gateway to get it fixed OR try to dismantle the laptop and take out the power button and figure out a way to fix it or replace it.

This is a very common problem with the MX7000 series. It is an engineering blunder.

The button cover (what you press) has a tiny tab on the side which is what press the actual button on the circuit board. This tab has broken off and many people are having the same problem on the MX7000 series. Once broken off the only way to turn the laptop on is to remove the white plastic button cover. Once you remove this you will have a hole where the power button is. Now with a pencil eraser end or pen you will be able to press the actual button thats on the circuit board.
