Ok, this is a weird problem, but I searched and found no other posts about it. I bought the MX7515 back in november, and swapped out the HD for a 7200 speed 80 gb. This thing is a beast and I love it to death.
However, I just started using the dvd burner. Before I swapped HD's i backed up the partition on a dvd with the nero that came with the computer. Now, that dvd is unreadable by the computer. I figured it was just a bad burn, so I tried burning some other things. Heres the kicker...
Used nero 7 to burn a movie img. The burn went great with no errors. So I pop the dvd in my xbox 360 and it plays fine. Sweet! But I want to play it on my desktop or my laptop. No dice. Even the mx7515 that BURNED IT, cant read it. The dvd's im using are Maxell DVD+R and i think they are single layer, cuz they ahve a 4.7 gb capacity. I burned them at 4x, and they are capable up to 8x. Also-the first movie i made i forgot to finalize the disc (laptop couldnt read it to finalize it), so i burned it again and finalized it. The second one is the one that works in the xbox, but not anywhere else.
Anyone else experience this?
ps-when i say the laptop cant read it, i mean i pop it in. and go to my computer, and it freezes for about 1 minute at my computer. then when i can finaly click on the dvd drive, it says something like "cannot read disc"....
Thanks in advance,
Rich

some times you have to set what region you are in for your dvd you want to play (i don't know if that applies for a dvd you burnt or for a data dvd lol)

Yea, thats true. But it plays fine on my xbox. Besides, if it was a DVD Region probem, wouldn't the actual DVD be read by the laptop drive? I mean, so I could atleast go into My Computer, Explore D: or whatever and see the files? Real weird, huh?
How could a drive that burns a dvd, not read the resulting burned DVD? Crazysauce! -
The dvd drive may not be able to reconginze your DVD's with so many DVD formats and brand don't expect laptop DVD's to read every single format. Your best solution is to update your DVD drivers. If the DVD content is very important I suggest you purchase an USB2.0 external DVD drive that house an internal DVD writier.

that is weird that many the computer burnt it cannot read it

Happens more than you think. Laptop drives aren't all that great. I would see if there is a firmware update for your drive and try some different discs.
MX7515 wont read DVD+R
