Ok, got myself an MX7515 as an early Christmas present. (Gave my Sony VAIO to my wife He-He). The factory installed ATI drivers, DXDiag, 3Dmark05, and the latest Omega Drivers all report 256MB for the X600. Anybody else see this? I bought my laptop $1199 from BestBuy on Dec 3rd, Nashville TN.

The 256MB is due to HyperMemory; actual amount of memory is 64MB. It dynamically shares up to 192MB of your system memory as needed.

Wait, another question for you. I asked the sales guy at Best Buy to show me the best laptop they had for gaming. He pointed me to another laptop with a weaker CPU, but with an ATI XPRESS 200 IGM (something like that) with 128MB of Dedicated RAM. I thought the X600 (even though it has Hypermemory) is the better card? Yay/Nay?

Then it was a weaker CPU AND a weaker GPU. ATI MOBOLITY RADEAON XPRESS 200M is an integrated solution that gives a good performance for an integrated solution (compared with Intel's GMA900). Your X600, even tough has shared memory with hypermemory is way better than the integrated one. Once again sales guys don't know what they are selling.
A better option (an not very expensive) should be an ATI X700 or Geforce Go 6600.

You can check this post about mobile graphics cards....a really good post with lots of usefull info:

Good luck with your 7515, I own one also...excellent machine (for the price) except for some USB2 performance issues with external devices such as HDDs or DVDs.

Are you sure you don't mean 128mb?

No offense to anyone working at best buy but they really aren't the ones to ask about something. Many people working there will tell you just about anything to sell. That's what they get paid for.
By the way, Congrats on the nice laptop. :)

Absolutely sure. The only 75xx series notebook to have 128MB of dedicated video memory is the 7510GX.

MX7515 has routinely shown 3DMarks 300 points lower than the 7510GX, consistent with the reduced memory.

I agree with the coment made about Sales associates working at Best Buy. Most of the time they select random people to work in the computer department whether they know computers or not. Most don't know laptops any better than they know dishwashers. I know because I used to work at a Best Buy location.

At the risk of going offtopic, I'm going to have to agree. I worked at Best Buy briefly before jumping ship for a less aggravating job.

When I was training there, I actually wound up teaching my trainer and the other hires about the notebooks they had on sale. What really irritated me was how the trainer pushed really hard that for a computer to be Windows Vista ready it had to have 2GB of RAM. We had to sell that much. And I told him, "no, it doesn't need that, it runs fine on existing computers." And he didn't budge.

The guys in the department usually have some middling to working knowledge of computers, but not by much. Though it seems to vary from store to store, however, the guys in my geek squad department were very sharp and knowledgable except for their supervisor, who was a total ditz. Disappointing that the only woman working in geek squad was a complete idiot. :|
