Can you make a back up of the recovery drive in case something goes wrong with reinstalling windows from the oem disk?
I've just made a back up with the Gateway recovery thing so I can recovery my drivers after I do a clean install of Vista. But i want to be safe.
-
you mean the d - partition ?
it would be useless, as installing an oem os will overwrite the mbr and you wont be able to boot into the GRC.
but on the happy side, you have the dvd from gateway that does just that. -
Would it be point less to save or back up the recovery drive if I made a Application and driver recovery disk already?
-
its not the same thing, what you made is an application and drivers not os.
however it pointless for the above stated reason.
you have the gateway recovery dvd ? -
Yes I just wanted the Recovery drive on DVD just in case something went wrong. But nothing should should it?
-
nothing should go wrong.
install your oem , update with the drivers dvd go on the web and update some more. if all hell break loose use the gateway dvd to bring it back to factory state. btw hell will stay leashed -
Thanks for the help.
I'm going to reinstall a fresh copy of vista tonight.
I'll let you know how it goes. -
Ok everything went good.
And again thanks for the help and quick reply.
