Alright, so I'm making my recovery discs, think i've ran into a problem, its on disc #1, I started it 1 hour 42minutes 48seconds ago, it was all running fine for the first half hour, when it hit around 33minutes it was on 93% and its been there ever since, and the remaining time has been stuck on 24seconds. Am I suppose to wait it out or what? I know I shouldn't have even opened firefox or anything but I've got to leave in about 20minutes (have to shut laptop and take it with me)
What do I do..?

go to your power settings and tell the computer to DO NOTHING when the lid is closed and turn off ALL power saving applications. You can basically keep the computer on even with the lid closed.
Honestly though if the thing has just "stopped" then your hosed and probably need to start the process over again (though i cant remember if this is a one time only thing or not) -
I have to put it in my backpack and I don't want it heating up
Yeah evrything has stopped moving but the elapsed time.
Remaining time is stuck on 00:00:24
Percent complete is stuck on 93%
Verify % hasn't started.
Ughh. -

where are you going that you cant just hand carry it?
Or why cant you just leave it home? -
I'm on a trip right now and I'm leaving this hotel. So I can't leave it, and I've got a bunch of suitcases so I cant carry it.
Ugh, so I canceled it and figured I'd do it later, but I went to the recovery management and now the icon to click is faded and unclickable, guessing it was a one time thing, right? -

Yeah thats what i thought.
Ask another 7805 owner to make a copy of theirs and mail it to you. Most people should be willing to do that.
Sorry to hear it slagged out on you -

Actually there's a file that you can delete to allow you to make them again. I forget where it is but if you search the forum hard enough you can probably find it. It's like a log file that says you've made the disks, if you delete it the computer thinks you haven't made them yet.
-
Hmmm...
If you "search" your HD by date, wouldn't it be one of the most recently changed files and also show being changed at the date/time he supposedly "finished" making the disks? -
That'd be another way possibly. I think the file is written to the hidden recovery partition so you'll probably have to go into disk management and give it a letter temporarily.
-
Phew...
I restarted the computer after my last post, and the recovery management worked again. It burned the Create Factory Default Discs (2 DVD-R's) and finished, took roughly 50minutes.
So now I want to make the Apps and Drivers disc, but whenever I click on it it says "Drivers and applications are incomplete, would you like to burn?"
I'm afraid to hit Yes until I get an answer from you guys, the "Incomplete" shouldn't be there should it...? -
Bump.. (Wow my first bump
)
-
I don't remember whether I got that or not, so I can't help specifically.
You can always get updated drivers from the Net. Worst case, then, is you don't get all of the installed applications. -
Yeah I assumed it means that the applications that came with it that the recovery management has stored are no longer installed on my pc (Norton and ETC) because I deleted them.
Think it could because of the stuff like that? -
That makes sense to me since they assumed you would make the disks first before installing anything.
-
Yeah, me too. Thanks for the help. I'll burn it anyway
Making recovery discs?
