My parents recently purchased this from office depot for $500 after rebate. I want to upgrade their memory from 1GB to 2GB since it's running Vista. Obviously i don't want to pay the gateway premium, so what kind of memory are available for me to purchase. Will this stuff at fry's work?

Yes any DDR2-667(PC2-5300/5400) 200-pin SO-dimm ram should work for you laptop.

Also check out the Hot ram deals thread for great prices on ram(if you currently have1x1gb in you laptop it will be cheaper just to add a single stick of 1gb) .
