I have a Gateway YGR Solo 600 with XP Pro/SP2 and it's worked fairly well since I received it 5 years ago. Recently however, the sound card has been giving me a great deal of trouble. Neither the keyboard mic, nor the plug in mic will work at all (already been through verifying on "Sound Properties" that the "mic" box is check under "Recording Controls" and now the right speaker is not working, or barely so, if I plug a mimi-jack into the port and wiggle it around a bit.
I've used Gateway's Driver Updater service several times to assure that I have the lates drivers loaded and Device Manager does not indicate any conflcts anywhere in the computer. Of course, Gateway is happy to take it in out-of-warranty for $249, plus parts, plus my implicated agreement that they automaticaly will have my permission to re-format my hard-drive without contacting me.
    Any other ideas out there?
    Thanks!
