I'm having problems with my mic in. I'm trying to use the mic on my headset. I plug everything in right, and I set the mic in line as the default under Recording Devices in Vista, yet the mic still doesn't work. Any thoughts?

Is the mic un-muted and are there two seperate mics like "Mic" and "Front Mic"? Is your headset a USB one or does it just use the standard mic jack?

There is only one mic in port, on the right side of my laptop. Mic is unmuted. My headseat has both a USB connection (for the vibrate feature) but has both regular speaker and mic male ends.

Never installed any drivers. Where would I go to get the right ones?

I should note that the mic next to the webcam always works regardless if it's selected as default or not.

I know what you're going through, I reformatted recently and whatever I did or didn't do caused only the Mic on the Webcam to come through, my computer doesn't even recognize the mic next to the headphone jack

I got the mic in line working briefly. i restarted my computer with the mic plugged in already (I think) and it worked. I disconnected it, plugged it back in, and it doesn't work now.

Is there a way to solve this so that I don't have to keep restarting my computer to get the mic working when disconnected?

Perhaps updating the drivers would help, but I can't seem to figure out which drivers I need, or more specifically, where to get them.

Can anyone help me out on this?

i had this problem a long time ago. it was a simple fix from control panel.

MIC line is working fine, its when you plug in your MIC it keeps changing it to LINE IN from MIC IN.

ITS HARD TO EXPLAIN, so go to your control panel and open up your IDT sound control panel thing and play around with it.

Do you remember exactly what you changed? I've been messing around with the settings for awhile and nothing seems to work.
