Hi all, recent developments have made me think about selling my P6831FX. The Processor has been upgraded to a T7500 (2.2GHz, 4MB L2 Cache) and it has a second hard drive installed (Hitachi 160GB). I'm not certain I want to sell, but I may, and I am curious what kind of $$ you think this will fetch.

How long ago did you buy it? Is it too late for a return to store?

Honestly, I would try to put everything back to stock and maybe sell here or Craigslist or Ebay. Then selling the other "better / upgrade" parts separately.

Would take longer but would definitely net you more money.

Less than retail, because you (1) opened up the notebook to upgrade when you (probably) are not a certified tech and (2) you voided the warranty when you upgraded the CPU.

much less without warranty 1 yr at least because if the thing breaks you dont have to shell out hundreds to get it fix. warranty is important to most people.

Anywhere between original retail 1349.00 and I'd say 1599.00 (the price of the next model up the chain) Mismatching drives aren't a great selling point for those who would buy this type of portable imho. Transferable Warranty of any kind would be beneficial as stated in post above as well as possibly returning to stock form and selling upgrades individually. Good Luck and don't hesitate...make up your mind while it's hott and have no regrets if ya decide to keep or sell... :)

Even with 15% restocking fee, returning to store would be better option.

..within 15 or 30 days? This would be your best short term solution depending how much time you have left.

Sorry to see ya go leehblanc

I have to agree with peter and hydra. Your best bet is just returning and eating the 15% restocking fee if you are within the time-frame allowed to return to Best Buy (either 14 or 30 days possibly - not sure really). You will lose more than 15% of ~$1350 trying to sell it on craigs or ebay. Just return it to factory settings, take a 15% loss, and sell the other 2 components individually. You will get more of your money back that way (if it's still an option).

Okay, just to update everyone. I've gotten one offer, and it's a good one. Problem is, I was looking at getting one of the new MacBook Pros. The older models didn't appeal to me since I use Windows for a LOT of what I do, and the video left a lot to be desired. The new models fit my needs, but the loss I am going to take on the 6831 is probably too much to bear when factoring the added cost of the MBP. That said, I will most likely be holding on to the 6831 until next year, at least. Thanks for the interest, and if I DO decide to sell, I will select offers in the order in which they were received.
