What is better a 8800m GTS or the 9600m GT? There both DDR3 512.. I got a P-6860FX and a friend of mine wants to trade me a MSI 1722 ID2 Its got 4gb of ram, P8600 cpu, 320 hard drive 9600m GT card, Bluetooth, wireless n, and a 9 cell battery, Its a 17inch WUXGA.. I am undecided. Is this a better gaming machine than the P-6860FX??

I know my 7807u takes whatever I throw at it and keeps going... :))))))

I know, the GTS is a better than GT, and the 8800, and 9800 versions are better too. All in all, the 8800m gts is probably a better card, but will you notice a difference, not sure.

please refer to the GPU Guide.

    the 9600M is a mid-range card (128-bit memory interface)

    the 8800M/9800M are high-end (256-bit memory interface)

high-end cards will easily out perform mid-range cards by over two times.

The 8800m GTS is over twice as fast; 256 bit vs 128 bit, 64spu's vs 32spu's and higher core/memory/shader clocks to boot. Bad deal ;)

Edit: actually they both have exactly the same core/memory/shader clocks  Sooo exactly twice the performance :D
