Under task manager, at idle I am running about 59 processes and using about 1.16G or RAM. My setting are set to use for best performance: and use for programs instead of backround processes. My paging file/cache is set to let windows Manage Does all this sound like the best setup?
The only programs I have constantly running (in tray) are my Avira AV and superantispyware
Per HWMonitor..at idle my CPUs are at 30-35 my GPU at 45-50 and my HDD 47-50
Under an hour of gaming Fallout 3 on ultra high settings my CPUs max at 52 my GPU at 73 and my HDD at 55! I know the CPUs/GPU max are great temps but the HDD usually sticks around 50 but last night sat around 55! I know there are no vents or cooling for our HDD but any advise?
My 7805 is lifted about an inch for airflow (crucial)
Random question thinking about buying Resident Evil 5 anyone played it on their 7805? Do our monitors have 120Hz panels? (heard that a major plus with the game)

well everyone usually sez to give it to 2 inches breathing room...your temps are excellent i usually get 40 to 45c for my cpu, 55 to 63c for my gpu, and 45 to 51c for my hdd. what power profile do you have on because i know that when i have it on high performance the hdd is always spinning as opposed to balanced the hdd stops to save power. try that out and see if your temps for your hdd get any better.
btw...resident evil is awsome!!! it plays great. on the benchmarks i got a good 68fps and my gameplay during the story so far has been super smooth. our screens are only 60hz so if your thinkin about the 3d nvidia vision it seems like its out of the question for us. -
Thanks! Yes I have my 7805 on performance mode.
Hmm so RE5 is a good buy huh..I have beaten 1-4. ya I was thinking about Nvidias 3d vision so that sucks for us...Are you playing on ultra high setting? Any pointers on how to set the setting for my stock 7805 system?
looks like you have a bit overclocking and T9900 so my framerate may be 10-15 fps less huh -
i'm playing it with all settings on high and 2x anti aliasing. the game runs perfect!!! way better than consoles. i remember playing it for my 360 and it looked nowhere near as good texture wise and frames as well. for setting up your contol panel all i could really say trial an error. i had to mess around with it alot to see what gave me the performance and quality i wanted.

Thanks. One more question regarding RE5. Is it a long storyline? RE4 was a good 20 or more hours and I loved it! Totally mastering Fallout 3 and all the quests is massive amounts of gameplay which I love! I hate games that I beat in a weekend and then have no replay-ability. On these terms, how would you rate RE5?
On a side note, I work a lot and am only home during the weekend and weekdays from 7pm – 9am. On weekdays, I boot up my 7805 around 7pm every night and then shut it down around 11pm before bed. I guess I am always worried about HEAT of leaving at idle etc..un-needed heat and strain on components. If theres one thing I have learned it is that HEAT kills all things. But then I got to thinking of all the boot ups and shut downs stress I may be causing. For some reason I am reluctant to ever put it on sleep as I always feel it never wakes up with the same performance etc (and can someone explain memory leakage to me?). Oh well, I guess I am wondering if my current shutting down booting up each day is ok….or if someone can convince me that leaving the laptop on 24/7 will NOT shorten its life (which I know cant be as for the HEAT theory) btw I DO NOT keep the battery in the laptop as it is always on AC power..battery has been in the fridge from out of the box! Sorry for the ramble. Thanks! -
i never really put my laptop on sleep. i usually just turn it off than turn it back on when i need it. heat fro what i've heard is a bad thing but your temps seem fine. if your worried about the heat that much i know alot of people who have recommended this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834998686 zalman laptop cooler. they say it works wonders for temps.
in regards to re5...game got a good 7 to 9 hours of gameplay including story but if you want to get everything including bssa emblems hidden throughout the course of each stage than you'll invest a little more time. re-playability is high because of the extra difficulties and mercenaries mode which is super addicting! one thing i'm noticing though while playing through dx9 mode of the game chris does this weird type of micro stutter when he runs/walks and in dx10 mode its fine. it kinda bugs me because in dx10 you take a slight hit in frames and i feel like i'm forced to play in it to get chris to run fine without the stutter. -
780Cinco- Did you also raise the front of the laptop? (if you only raise the back it blocks the HDD air passage)
about leaving the lappy on, its fine... just dont close the lid/screen... the heat might damage the screen, i have mine on almost constantly.
Enjoy your FX =P -
i was getting those temps when raising for my HDDs when i propped the back of the laptop up. i ended up using a couple of water bottle caps to prop the front up, but it didn't help as much as buying nc-2000 by zalman(nice suggestion, soldire). my idle temps are 39C for TZS0, 30/23C for CPU, 36C for GPU, 39C for the HDD, and 39C for the other HDD. if i were to choose a different cooler i might have gone with NZXT's cooler. i just didn't like the fact that it requires an external power source. the way the zalman cooler is designed helped the HDDs drop 12C, but the TZS0 and CPU temps remained around the same; the vent holes on the nc-2000 are towards the front half of the laptop.
as for your side note, good job on keeping your battery in the fridge. i'd just make sure that the charge is at 40%. i remember reading an article somewhere that it's the optimal temp to store li-ion batteries. -
Has anyone else played resident evil 5 for the pc? If so how is your rig running the game?
My 7805 settings..temps..and RE5..little help
