My AGN 5100 just quit. I wonder if the "hard" switch can be bad? How is the hard switch hooked up?
It will not connect but was happy for months. Any suggestions?

Do you think Geek Squad would be any help? I've never talked to them.

PS: The only 5300's I find is eBay China ... any other sources? I'm just thinking of time.

Happy New Year to the NBR Gateway team! (From my wife's laptop) :)

I was worried about that switch ever since. My neighbour's HP HDX has a virtual button above the top of the keyboard and it is lovely. The 7811FX has one so hideous...that it's almost embarrassing.

Happy new year to you too!

Try the wireless on/off hotkey - the Fn + F2 button. It's right next to the Sleep button, and I accidentally hit it while sleeping my computer before going to a friend's house. I could not figure out why I couldn't hook to his wireless for hours lol. Turning the manual switch on and off made no difference to Windows, so there was no way for me to tell what was happening. I finally figured it out, hit the button, and it was up and running in 20 seconds lol.

But you're right, that switch is a menace to your wireless' operability. If I ever crack the case open to AS5 the GPU, I'll remove the external slider and put the switch permanently on, then just use the hotkey to enable/disable it when I need to.

check device manager to see if it reads the card.

If it does read the card it's a problem with the switch or the internal antenna.
If it doesn't read the card... replace the card.. takes 5 minutes. Happened to my friends recently.
