Just over a month ago I ordered a Gateway NX860XL, with top-of-the-line everything except the processor. Well I kept checking my order and checking my order, and Gateway's online order-checking thingy kept saying my order was 'processing.' Well the computer's now 3 weeks overdue and just yesterday a Gateway rep called me and said the new estimated shipping date for my NX860XL would be sometime in DECEMBER of this year!!!
The reason? Apparently Gateway's been having trouble getting the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 video to work right, and at this time they think it's going to take that long to figure the problems out. (I'm just telling you what he said.)
He gave me three options:
1. Wait til December. (Of course the computer would already be outdated by then. Gateway isn't even selling NX860XLs anymore as it is! I just checked the site today and all they have is the NX860X.)
2. Cancel my order.
3. Opt for the GeForce Go 7800. According to him it was still the same amount of memory, just the previous generation- however they only had 400 left, and after that people were going to have to wait for the 7900 to be fixed.
I picked option 3. Supposedly I'll get my computer within 7 business days now. *sighs* I guess my point of this post is A) to whine because I want my laptop now darnit! and B) warn anyone who's ordered an NX860XL and hasn't gotten it yet that you might want to give Gateway a call. Good luck!!!

acording two gateway sales people it would be back in stock by 9/4. The nx860 webpage was having some problems 2, thats why its been not showing. today 7/19 i noticed it was on, then taken off then added again.
I also wonder if this has anything to do with upcoming merom/ core 2 duo coming out...
My NX860XL Was Delayed Til December!!!
