First time posting but this forum has really helped me make a descision to get this laptop. Thanks everyone.

Please refer me if my questions have been answered in other threads.

I just got my laptop and it seems to be running fine.

I ran 3dMark06 and am only getting about 5500. Other people claiming scores in the 9000's. The power AC line was plugged in, power settings on performance.

Is there anything you recommending me doing to it? Update drivers, bios, anything of the sort? Only thing i have started uninstalling all the free crapware.

    Thanks,
    Christopher

well get new drivers i recommend whatever the latest dox custom drivers are.

also people get those scores by over-clocking and installing new hardware to get a better score, like a processor.

i have a fx6860, with dox drivers, and a t8300 processor, and i get 8691, well that was my latest score, and im not over-clocking.

he means the GPU, FYI. you cant OC the CPU but you can upgrade it to a better one other than the stock p8400.

my X9100 equipped p7805u with 186.85 official drivers (OCed to 700/929/1750) scored 11659 on 3DMark06.

Are you running it on the default settings? (Might be the problem) If it isn't this, monitor your temperatures. Make sure the GPU isn't over heating and down-clocking.

With the 7811 I easily get mid 9k's without overclocking.
Overclocking should change the score to much.

Also, just as a unrelated suggestions. Try under-volting. It doesn't affect performance, but reduces heat and energy used by your CPU.

I had a theory that it not only had to be plugged in but fully charged. I did that, then ran 3dMark06 again.

Results were 9378. I'd say that's more than acceptable =)

    Potential upgrades: p9700, WUXGA Screen.
