Hello everyone.
First off, I just wanted to thank everyone for all of the useful information I am getting off of this forum.
My 6860 is arriving today!!!![]()
I plan on doing some of the useful tips provided on this forum such as the 180.70 drivers and undervoltaging.
I had a couple questions on the RAID setups though. I am unfamiliar with RAID. Where will you notice the benefits of a RAID setup? I am a casual gamer and web surfer. I am wondering if it is worth the cost of another harddrive. Also, does the harddrive need to have the same size or RPM as the already installed one for it to work?
Thanks!

As for the RPM, I am not mistaken, if you got a 5400 RPM one (the stock for P-6860) and a 7200 RPM one, it will both run at 5400 RPM. Pretty much the same way RAM works
Im wondering if RAID 1 is doable though. I really want that double read speed and data integrity -
There is no major, provable, advantages to RAID. It doesn't give you any improved frame-rates. It gives you marginal improvements in opening up large programs, or starting windows, but it may be as little as a 5% improvement. This is according to benchmarks by both Anandtech and Storagereview.
RAID was meant for heavily data intensive environments, servers, not for PCs. It was sold as some advantage years ago by motherboard manufacturers.
Overall, it's far more risky with dubious benefits.
